Happiness is the Truth!

"It might seem crazy what I'm about to say

Sunshine she's here, you can take away

I'm a hot air balloon, I could go to space

With the air, like I don't care baby by the way..."

In Bloom

Gucci is doing it... Prada of course. Let's just say it takes a man who is comfortable with his masculinity to stop and smell the roses. I am late on blogging about the floral craze in menswear.  I love the print on print look that Gucci has premiered this past winter for the SS'14. Don't feel awkward, you're a man and very much so. I have found similar prints at Urban Outfitters and Zara. It started this past fall with brownish, darker maroons and darker colors, and it the trend found it's way to Spring and Summer. Brighter colors dominate with eye-catching reds, pinks, and green. Tropical flowers to the red roses. If you are uncomfortable with the print on print, wear one piece that catches the eye, like a tie or hat. Let the print do the talking with a floral shirt. I like this trend it's refreshing and bring color to the sometimes dull colorless menswear.

First Look: Combatant Gentlemen

No middle man, no lent pockets. This is the idea for the new startup Combatant Gentlemen, from the creative team Vishaal, Mo, and Scot. Obviously, they sell men's clothes, but at reasonable prices. Their philosophy is cheaper clothes for a struggling economy.

A quote from the gents- "With this combination of passions, we have set out to fix the problems we see in the fashion industry...We have also set out to create a brand with a personality that people can connect with. From our combination of expertise within global garment production, experience as young men making our way in the world and technological know-how, we have created what you now know as Combat Gent. "

Their pricing though is what is amazing! They have built their business to be vertically integrated, meaning that there is no middle man that deals with the production or distribution of their clothing. They own the sheep in Italy that make the wool for their fabrics, as well as the mill, and so on. A full suit is priced at about $150 (that's blazer and pants). I guess those are the savings when there is no middle man. Their collection is the basics, black suit, grey suit, navy suit. Basic V-neck sweaters, shirts, nothing too complicated.

Young Bill Cosby

Recently I was browsing the tv and came across the "Bill Cosby Show",not the Cosby show, that is totally different and not so loudly fashioned. the Bill Cosby Show is a stars a moderately comedic high school gym teacher and sports coach, Chet Kincaid, who is amazingly fly (even in the occasionally not  so fly 70's).  Bill Cosby is nicely figured, posed, and very much manly. His clothes are nicely fitted and he seems calm cool and collected, even through his quirky humor. You can catch more young Cosby style in his starring role in the tv series "I Spy".
